Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys Board Fellow

Position Description

The Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys (“IAHA”) is pleased to announce an opportunity open to second year law students —the IAHA Board Fellow (“Fellow”).   Created in 20017, this fellowship provides an opportunity for a law student, who is interested in health law, to work with the IAHA Board and gain valuable experience. The Fellow will attend all Board meetings and select Board committee meetings , as well as work on special projects for IAHA under Board oversight.  The Fellow will gain experience on the workings of a non-profit board of directors and leadership of a bar association, as well as an incredible networking opportunity to connect with leaders in health law.

The term of the fellowship will be from October 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020.  The Fellow will be an independent contractor and will receive a stipend in the amount of $1,500 during the term of the fellowship.  In addition, the Fellow will receive complimentary membership in the IAHA and admission to the IAHA Annual Symposium and other IAHA events during the period of the fellowship.

Background on IAHA

Founded in 1976, IAHA serves the informational and educational needs of its members who represent the health care industry from hospitals and physicians to payers and vendors to medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers.  IAHA sponsors a number of education programs, many of which focus on Illinois health law developments.  Those education programs provide members not only with programming to earn CLE credit, but with a forum to network and exchange ideas and best practices. IAHA membership is open to attorneys, law students and others interested in legal issues surrounding the delivery and payment of health care.  IAHA’s more than 600 active members come from law firms, business and academic settings and include new and experienced lawyers as well as lawyers in training.
